There is so much written on business planning these days that it’s hard for nearly anyone to argue against the value of planning.
Some people like to run there business by the “seat of their pants,” and no one would argue that a little spontaneity is great to have in your life. But you do need to plan something at some point, or your efforts will simply be one reaction after another. The non-planner will end up taking no proactive action to improve his or her business. The most successful people plan their business goals and are motivated to accomplish them.
Every internet marketer needs a master plan. Do I have one?
I was hoping that this Blog would act as an ongoing master plan that can be changed and added to as this progresses.
A master plan should include long term goals, short term goals, and objectives. I may want to build in some rewards to motivate myself to accomplish them as well. Let’s look at each item that should appear in this Blog:
Long term goal: The first thing I should include in this master plan is my long term goal. The goal for this internet marketing plan is that I want to, at some point in time; achieve a $100.00 per day NET profit business that requires a maximum of 3 hours a day to maintain.
Short term goals: Now I have this long term goal listed, I need to break it down into things that I can realistically do in the short term. Short term goals might be achievable within one to six months and include the development of a website, completion of a project or mastering an aspect of internet marketing to increase my knowledge base.
Objectives: Once I have decided on a short term goal, I’ll need to create objectives for that goal. Objectives are the steps that I need to take to reach the conclusion of that particular goal.
Example:
Short time goal.
Set up a system to build a list that will automatically receive an e-mail autoresponder course to last for fifty two weeks.
Objectives:
1. Register domain a name
2. Host domain.
3. Design website.
4. Design squeeze page
5. Register with Autoresponder Company.
6. Input fifty two double opt in emails with a good information base and liberal advertising.
You might look at this list and say “easier said than done!” but by breaking down all of your goals into smaller objectives; it does become easier to do. I’ll have small steps to work on to get to the next level.
Within the “main” objective of building this business will be the smaller objectives that must be reached to do the building. The more I break down the steps that need to be taken, the easier it will be to reach my goal.
